The state unit of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has termed as baseless the accusations of Leader of Opposition and Congress MLA Ronnie V Lyngdoh that the former and the BJP has a “secret understanding” in Meghalaya for the Lok Sabha polls.
“Mr. Ronnie V Lyndoh’s baseless accusations serve only as a smokescreen to conceal his party’s shady alliances with the NPP. Instead of coming clean about these alliances in Meghalaya, he’s quick to point fingers at other parties, especially the TMC,” TMC leader Richard Mrong Marak said.
Marak stated that the TMC is tirelessly advocating for the people and state’s interests against the current government, both locally and nationally. He also termed it as it that Lyngdoh conveniently ignores the cozy relationship between the Meghalaya Congress and the NPP, a close ally of the BJP.Terming the statement of the Leader of Opposition as “political hypocrisy”, Marak asked how can anyone take Lyngdoh and Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee president and Lok Sabha MP, Vincent Pala seriously.
“While Ronnie, supposedly the Leader of the Opposition, shamelessly aligns with the NPP-led Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, Mr. Vincent Pala acts as the BJP’s Assam CM’s C team through Mr. Conrad Sangma,” he said.
According to Marak, Conrad and Pala, thick as thieves, have no secrets, inside or outside of politics. The TMC leader said that this “political bromance” between them is just another example of the backdoor deals and lack of integrity within Meghalaya’s political landscape.
Marak also accused Saleng Sangma who has been nominated by the Congress for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Tura, as nothing more than a puppet controlled by Conrad Sangma and the BJP’s Assam CM.
The TMC leader said that the Congress, under Pala’s leadership, is using Saleng to divide votes among disgruntled constituents, disenchanted with the incumbent MP, Agatha Sangma.”But don’t be fooled! People can see through their plans and are siding with the TMC. The people of Garo Hills demand change, and together, we’re forging ahead, feeling supported by a higher power,” Marak said.
