The Meghalaya Trinamool Congress today launched the digital countdown clock, which the party said is to “signal the end of the NPP-led MDA regime.”
The clock has been set to March 2, the date for counting of votes for the assembly elections.
In Shillong, the clock was set up at the TMC party office with a message in Khasi language, “To Kata NPP-MDA Leitsuk” (Ok then NPP-MDA farewell). Similar clocks were put up in Jowai and Tura.
Party leaders said that the clock will remind the people that the “dark days of the state will soon be over.”
Leader of Opposition and TMC Legislature Party Leader Dr. Mukul Sangma said that, “The time is ticking. The day is not far that Meghalaya will be free from this corrupt government, and we will restore the name, fame and past glory of this beautiful state.”
The party said the clock will also serve as a stark reminder to the leaders who were a part of the unholy alliance with NPP, which has “wrecked the lives of the people of Meghalaya.”
