TMC candidate Sunida Bareh running for the assembly elections for Khliehriat constituency has received death threats allegedly from NPP workers.
According to Bareh the threats came from an unknown number (8974916074) and an SMS from one Aibormi Rymbai on February 16.
A FIR has been lodged with East Jaiñtia Hills Superintendent of Police seeking stern action against the perpetrators.
A case has been registered at Ladrymbai Outpost under Section 506 IPC, the SP said.
Six contestants including Bareh are in the fray for the February 27 election for the Khliehriat seat.
UDP’s Kyrmen Shylla is seeking re-election and others are Nehlang Lyngdoh (NPP), Damewanhi Rymbai (VPP), Hayes Chyrmang (BJP) and Jhanika Siangshai (INC).
