As part of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner (Election), West Jaintia Hills District through a musical concert educated and motivated the voters to become aware of their right to vote as a responsible citizen.
The programme was organised yesterday at Seinraij Parking lot Stand Ummulong, Iawmusiang, Jowai.
Additional Deputy Commissioner MA Challam reminded the people of their right to vote as citizens of a democratic county. He also cautioned voters against accepting freebies and called for their active participation in curbing such menace by mobilizing the mobile App cVigil provided by the Election Commission of India.
The event witnessed a large crowd dancing to the tune performed by two locals’ bands Nexus and the LYNX.
Other highlights of the event include dance performed by two local artists Lucy and Mynnu and a special number by the District SVEEP Icon Paloi, a member of Chiiung.
