The District Medical & Health Officer office in East Jaintia Hills launched the District Level Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2025 at Rymbai PHC, aiming to reduce childhood mortality and morbidity due to the disease.
The campaign, themed “Prevent Diarrhoea, Take care of yourself, Use ORS and Maintain Cleanliness,” seeks to involve local communities and community health workers in raising awareness about diarrhoea prevention and treatment.
District Medical & Health Officer Dr. Dominic Shylla emphasised the importance of ORS and Zinc in combating diarrhoea, as well as proper sanitation practices, breastfeeding, and healthy eating habits.
Health Educator D. Kshiar highlighted the causes, signs, and symptoms of diarrhoea, stressing the importance of cleanliness, hygiene, and proper handwashing techniques.
The campaign aims to sensitize people on prevention and treatment of diarrhoea in children below five years, with ASHAs playing a crucial role in spreading awareness in their communities.
