The State on Saturday recorded another COVID-19 death taking the number of such cases to 158, authorities said.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the deceased Niranjan Deb (69)of Lower Lumparing, Shillong was admitted to Civil Hospital, Shillong at 9:45 pm and tested Covid positive on April 23 (tested at Woodland Hospital).
He expired on Saturday at 7:45 am.
Dr. War informed that the cause of death is Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with Hypertension with Covid 19 Infection.
The State also recorded 155 fresh cases taking the number of such cases to 1244. East Khasi Hills district recorded 115 new cases (Armed Force/Paramilitary Force –six, Others–109), Ri-Bhoi district 11, West Jaintia Hills nine cases, East Jaintia Hills eight, West Garo Hills seven, South West Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills two each and South West Garo Hills one. Of the 155 new cases 81 are returnees.
East Khasi Hills district with 895 (Armed Forces/Para Military Forces 64, others 831) active cases is the most affected, Ri-Bhoi 124 (Armed Forces/Para Military Forces – three, others 121) West Jaintia Hills 115, East Jaintia Hills 39, West Garo Hills 29 (Armed Forces/Para Military Forces two, others 27), West Khasi Hills 26, South West Khasi HILLS 12, South West Garo Hills, South Garo Hills, East Garo Hills and North Garo Hills one each.
The State also recorded 148 new recoveries taking the total to 14384. The district wise break up are East Khasi Hills 113, West Jaintia Hills 26, Ri-Bhoi and West Khasi Hills four each and East Jaintia Hills one.
Dr. War also informed that so far a total of 111199 citizens of Meghalaya have been vaccinated. A total of 1,57,179 have received their first dose and 51,833 have been administered both the doses of Covishield vaccine.
The Director of Health Services informed that the total persons tested for the virus till date are 4,47,985 out of which 4,32,199 tested negative and 15786 are confirmed cases.
