The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has still yet to receive any information about the supposed upcoming visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Meghalaya on January 23.
Sources in the Meghalaya BJP said today that there have been no arrangements made for Shah’s visit to Shillong from the office of the party’s national Vice-President who is in charge of the state.
“We are yet to receive information about the visit of the Union Home Minister and there is no such communication about his visit to Shillong,” a source said.
Last week, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that Shah would be visiting Shillong on January 23 for a plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC). Sangma said that he would take advantage of that visit to discuss the demand for the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya.
“In case there is a change in his (Shah’s) programme then I will be making a tour to Delhi most likely before the 23rd of this month,” the CM had said then.
