Keeping up with the Christmas spirit, SPARK organised a fun-filled Christmas celebration for around 400 underprivileged children including slum children, child labours, rag pickers, domestic helpers, cowboys, physically challenged children, street children and other distressed children from East Khasi Hills District and Ri-Bhoi District.
Believing that Christmas is about showcasing kindness, affection and happiness, a special get-to-gather programme was organised for these children. Every year SPARK aims to share the delight of the festive season by bringing smiles to the faces of the less privileged.
Hence this year too, SPARK team created an unforgettable experience for these children and provided them a platform to enjoy the festival to the fullest as most of these children are debarred of their precious childhood and fun-filled life because they have to work to support themselves and their families.
The programme started with a Special Prayer Service by the children asking God’s blessings upon all and for peace and prosperity in the whole world.
Thereafter, Shima Modak, President and Founder of SPARK stressed on the essence of Christmas and wished everyone a Happy Christmas and New Year. She stressed on the essence of organising such a special programme for the distressed and underprivileged children thereby making the day really special for them. This was a platform of sharing love and care among all.
Besides these, there were many colourful and fun-filled performances by the children who rocked the stage. This day is very special for these deprived and distressed children as they get a platform to showcase their talents and skills which is no less than others.
“The programme was indeed a successful one as it could achieve its aim of bringing joy and happiness into the lives of these children with the help of all concerned adults who came forward to support the cause,” SPARK said in a statement.
