A meeting of traditional governing bodies of Greater Laban have given the relevant government departments a two-week deadline to fix various issues pertaining to the area.
Cabinet minister and local MLA, Sanbor Shullai, conducted meetings-cum-inspections in Laban, Upper Lumparing, Lower Lumparing in the presence of Rangbah Shnong Edward Kharwanlang and official of the PWD, PHE, Shillong Municipal Board and MePDCL.
Discussions involved early completion and commissioning of ongoing additional water supply and improvement of Greater Laban Water Supply Scheme and Greater Lumparing Water Supply Scheme and also regarding early completion of the ongoing construction of PWD roads and drains and regarding repairing and improvement of non-functioning of street lights within the Greater Laban area, Greater Lumparing area within 19th South Shillong Constituency.
During the meeting, a resolution was adopted by giving two weeks to all concerned departments to immediately solve all the public grievances regarding ongoing works for additional water supply, ongoing construction of PWD roads and drains and non-functioning street lights within 19th South Shillong Constituency.
Shullai expressed his sincere thanks to the landowners who have parted with their land free of cost, the Dorbar Shnong of Laban, Lower Lumparing, Upper Lumparing and the government officials for their sustained help and support in the ongoing construction of motorable link roads and ongoing works of sanctioned additional PHE and municipal water supply, which will be a great help for the long-term interest and aspiration of the general public.
