SOS Children’s Village Shillong marked World Environment Day with a tree plantation drive and pledge to go plastic-free.
The event was held at Syllei-U-Lar Govt LP School in collaboration with the community.
Two hundred tree saplings, supported by the Botanical Survey of India under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, were distributed to the community for plantation.
The Community Institution Group (CIG) has been entrusted with the responsibility of caring for the saplings.
Students of Govt L.P School took a pledge to refrain from using plastics and strive to make their location plastic-free.
