Social activist Greneth M Sangma has lodged a complaint with the Inspector General of Police, Anti-Corruption Branch to investigate corruption against the Block Development Officer of Gasuapara, South Garo Hills district.
Sangma said job card holders of Wakskogri VEC have flagged irregularities in a MNREGA project, which was abandoned two days after its foundation was laid in February, 2025.
He said the villagers during a meeting have raised concerns because the VEC secretary’s response to the public was unsatisfactory. Despite the project being ordered for 60 days, payment has been made only for 32 days, and the secretary has expressed inability to make further payments, he said.
Further the block authorities have failed to conduct the VEC election despite the term and condition ending.
