Cabinet Minister Kyrmen Shylla today stated that his colleague in government, Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, should be removed from his posts if he is truly involved in the drug trade, as has been alleged by the leader of the opposition Congress Party.
Shylla, of the United Democratic Party, which is allied to Dhar’s National People’s Party, added, however, that the levelling of such serious accusations should only be made based on proof.
“I don’t know who is right or wrong. I believe justice should prevail and if he is really involved then he should be thrown out, not only from the cabinet but also the state because we believe that drugs should not be entertained in our state,” said Shylla while warning that accusations regarding the drug trade should not be made lightly.
Leader of the Opposition Dr Mukul Sangma of the Trinamool Congress had vowed to write to the Prime Minister to take cognisance and initiate action against Dhar over the allegations.
“Whether false or true, they should have proof against the Deputy CM,” he added.
On Dr Sangma writing to the PM, Shylla said, “We are waiting for him to write if, according to him, what he says is right. Or the court should take action. Action should also be taken against false allegations.”
When discussing the need for an inquiry, Shylla mentioned the importance of clarity and the necessity for discussions regarding the allegations and added that he is confident that the CM will take note of the allegations.
