The Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) today reminded all pet owners within the municipal area to register their dogs with the SMB and to obtain dog tags for their pets on payment of Rs 250.
The order is under Section 128 of the Meghalaya Municipal Act.
All pet owners have also been told to ensure that their dogs do not stray into public places and roads. “Dogs found without tags will be treated as strays and necessary action will be taken against the owner” according to the Shillong Municipal Act.
