Shillong, Apr 18: The Siamsinpawlpi (SSPP) Shillong (the Paite Students’ Welfare Association) organised a career guidance programme at Morning Star College, Nongthymmai here for its members who are currently preparing for various competitive examinations.
The programme stressed on various competitive examinations, especially those conducted by banking and staff selection commission.
One of the sessions was led by Songliankhualhangzo, Chief Manager of SBI, Shillong, who provided an in-depth lecture on career awareness within the banking sector. He highlighted the workings of the banking industry, encompassing the responsibilities of accepting deposits for public lending. Additionally, he described different categories of banking in India, including the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), commercial banks, and cooperative banks. The session emphasised the significant role of public banking and its impact on social and economic growth.
Moody Lamkhenthang Guite, Chief Manager at the SBI Ïewduh branch, elaborated on various SBI officers’ grades, allowances, and promotional opportunities within the banking sector. He also highlighted additional benefits such as North East incentives, crèche allowances, and reimbursement provisions, ensuring that students were well-informed about lucrative career paths in banking.
Ngailianching, Senior Branch Manager BOI, Shillong spoke about work life balance with special reference on women employees in banking sector while Chinmuanthang Guite, Under Secretary (CSS), Staff Selection Commission, Regional Office, Guwahati highlighted various examinations conducted by SSC. He encouraged the aspirants to visit the website on the commission.
Other sessions were delivered by Mary Nemngaihmuan Thomte Sr. PA, CPWD, Mawi Hatlang, Senior Accountant, Office of the Controller of Communication Accounts (CCA), North East Circle, and Chinthianmuang Hanghal, Inspector Income Tax department, Shillong.
