I am writing to voice my concern regarding the organising of Shillong Trade Fair in Madan Iew Rynghep Laitumkhrah Shillong ahead of the approaching Lok Sabha elections 2024 on April 19, 2024 in our State.
With the elections drawing near, it is imperative that we prioritize the democratic process and ensure fair and transparent proceedings without any distractions or undue influence.
Trade fairs, while beneficial for business and commerce, have the potential to divert attention and resources away from the electoral process. They may inadvertently create opportunities for political interference or manipulation, thus undermining the integrity of the electoral system.
Moreover, hosting a trade fair during this sensitive period could overshadow the political discourse and hamper voter engagement. It is essential that citizens have the opportunity to focus on the issues at stake in the upcoming elections and make informed decisions without distractions.
Therefore, I urge the relevant authorities via this platform to consider postponing or halting the Trade Fair in Laitumkhrah until after the Lok Sabha elections. This would demonstrate a commitment to upholding the democratic values and principles that form the foundation of our nation.
We should all consider this matter with dedication to promote a fair and transparent electoral process.
