Shillong Congress MP Vincent H Pala has allegedly failed to convene the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) in East Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi in the last one year.
This featured in the Budget Session of the Assembly today.
Community & Rural Development Minister, Abu Taher Mondal informed the house, that in the last one year a total of nine meetings were held under DISHA.
The committee is to monitor and review implementation of all central government flagship programmes and also to look into complaints and grievances. It is chaired by the Member of Parliament of the concerned district or seat.
VPP MLA, Heavingstone Kharpran and UDP MLA, Mayralborn Syiem had sought details on why DISHA meeting has not been convened, in the last one year. Mondal said it is the MPs prerogative to convene the meeting.
He assured that he will request the MP to convene a meeting.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said DISHA is not a program of the state government. “It is not the state’s responsibility to convene the meeting. Government of India will monitor the central schemes through the MP and it is the MP’s prerogative to convene the meeting as it is directly between the departments and the MP,” he said.
