A SHG mela cum financial literacy camp was today held at Khangkhlak village under Ranikor Civil Sub Division as part of the North East Festival, 2022 and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
During the programme, cheques to 40 producer groups amounting to Rs 25 lakh under FOCUS programme were distributed and 10 SHGs as well as five village organisations were awarded for promoting and showcasing their unique products.
The progamme was organised by the office of the South West Khasi Hills district in collaboration with the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Society (MSRLS), Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU), Ranikor C&RD Block and Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA).
Sub Divisional Officer, L.G.M. Kharmih urged people to stand on their feet to uplift their economic condition, which will ultimately lead to a sustainable livelihood and development.
Hills Farmer Union president, Commander Shangpliang said he was delighted that farmers have now focused on cash crops and spoke on how FOCUS programme is helping farmers to upscale their productivity.
Labour Inspector, D Pakyntein informed about the e-Shram and the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Dema Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan and how to avail these schemes.
