The District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) of Ri-Bhoi organised a sensitisation rally on the need for polio immunisation among young children today.
A polio immunisation drive is scheduled to take place on March 4-6 across the entire district.
Today’s rally saw active participation from school children and health workers, who carried banners and placards to effectively communicate the importance of polio immunisation, often referred to as “two drops of life.”
While the polio immunisation campaign will begin on March 4 at all healthcare facilities, the following two days will see health workers venture into every village to administer the polio vaccine to those children who have missed out.
The DMHO urged parents, village leaders, and all concerned citizens of Ri Bhoi to recognise the significance of polio immunisation for infants and children up to 5 years old.
