Principal Secretary to the Meghalaya government, Syed Md A Razi, has died, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed through a post on social media today.
Razi, an Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer, had been on deputation to the Meghalaya government since 2021. His original term of deputation ended earlier this year and was then extended for 12 months by the central government. The notification of this had been issued just six days ago.
“Razi’s incredible efficiency and unwavering dedication were evident in every department he handled and he always took on each task with a level of ownership that inspired those around him,” Sangma wrote. “But beyond his work ethic, Razi was a warm, jolly soul who brought light to everyone he met. He was deeply loved and respected by his peers and his absence leaves a profound void in all of us. My thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace, dear Razi.”
Prior to his deputation, Razi served as Chief Commercial Manager of Northern Railway.
