A report by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) stated that donations to the National People’s Party (NPP) declared by NPEP decreased by 98.02% or Rs 7.331 crore.
According to donations declared by the NPP for the financial year 2022-23 the party received Rs 7.479 crore, while for the year 2023-24 it received Rs 0.148 crore.
As per the ADR report, the top donors for NPP was Rs 5 lakh from Manjushree Plastics (Guwahati) and Rs 3 lakhs from Bimal Saha (Dalu).
The other notable donors for the NPP are – Mahmood A Sangma Rs 2 lakh, Merimeker (Shillong) Rs 1.5 lakh and Thangwang Wangham Rs 1 lakh (Itanagar).
This report, prepared by ADR, focuses on donations above Rs 20,000, received by the national political parties during the financial year 2023-24, as per details submitted by the parties to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The national parties include the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M) and NPP.
According to the report, the NPP which received nine donations of Rs 14.80 lakh, have not declared the dates of payments of all the donations.
The other national parties which have not done so are AAP (1671 donations of Rs 11.062 crore) and CPI(M) (514 donations of Rs 7.636 crore).
The BJP has not declared the dates of payments for 7996 donations (Rs 2158.1494 crore) while Congress has not declared the dates of payments of all 1994 donations of Rs 281.48 crore.
