A semi-decomposed male body was discovered near Weisawdong Falls at the Riat Arliang parking lot in Umblai on Monday afternoon.
While official confirmation is still pending, authorities strongly suspect the remains could belong to one of the missing tourists from Indore.
The discovery comes amid an ongoing search for Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam, who disappeared in Sohra on May 23.
The search team made the breakthrough after a drone captured images of what appeared to be human legs along a cliffside, leading to the recovery of the body.
Owing to the advanced stage of decomposition, identification has proven difficult. Only the victim’s clothing and shoes are currently available as clues, and it has not yet been confirmed whether the remains are those of Raja Raghuvanshi.
Relatives of the missing couple are on their way to assist with the identification. Local magistrates have reached the site to conduct a formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
