Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma will meet in Guwahati tomorrow to discuss on the remaining six areas of differences.
The talk will be held at the State Guest House at Koinadhora, Khanapara, Guwahati at 4 pm.
The Chief Ministers will be accompanied by Chairman of the respective regional committees and chief secretaries of both the states.
The second round Chief Minister-level talks came close on the heels of ongoing skirmishes at Lapangap village, located between Karbi Anglong district in Assam and West Jaiñtia Hills district in Meghalaya.
“Issue of Lapangap will be taken up in the border talks tomorrow. As of now things are under control and there is no fighting,” Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar told reporters today.
Dhar said the district administrators of both the states will submit their report on the Lapangap clash and the government will decide on what action needs to be taken to ensure that no such similar situation occurs.
He also stated that Lapangap is not a disputed area and that the situation is under control as adequate measures are taken from both the states.
The boundary talk is to resolve the six remaining areas of differences in Langpih, Borduar, Deshdoonreah, Block-I, Block-II, Psiar-Khanduli, and Nongwah-Mawtamur (Garbhanga).
