A second body of a miner trapped inside the coal mine at Krem Ule, Umpleng, in East Jaintia Hills was retrieved today by Indian Navy divers.
The body was retrieved from the main shaft of the flooded mine and an inquest was conducted by the Executive Magistrate on the spot before the body was taken to the Khliehriat morgue for a post-mortem.
The first body pulled out of the mine was retrieved last Wednesday.
Today, the relatives of the victims from Cachar, Barpeta and Kamrup (Rural) in Assam and Kailashahar in Tripura were again informed through police to inform the immediate family members of the victims trapped in the coal mine to identify the retrieved bodies.
So far, no one has come forward to claim the first body.
