Sutnga Saipung MLA Santa Mary Shylla today visited the border villages around Huroi in East Jaiñtia Hills to review progress of ongoing projects.
Shylla was accompanied by officials of the Deputy Commissioner Office, District Commerce & Industries Centre, PWD(R) NEC Division Khliehriat, contractors and JAC Adviser Kynjaimon Amse.
During her visit she inspected the border haat at Huroi and the construction of the 40 km Sonapur-Borghat road under the NERSDS connecting Shymplong, Borsara, Lejri, Lahalein, Huroi and Hingaria village.
Expressing satisfaction with the progress of the two projects Shylla hoped that the work will be completed on time to benefit the border populace.
Shylla said that the visit is to reassure the people that the government is with them and that “the two projects are not just an election stunt.”
The MLA also interacted with the village elders and people and assured cooperation and also to take up the issue of electricity and mobile tower connectivity with the government.
Shylla also directed the PWD department and the contractor to clear any obstructions due to weather conditions during the monsoon and the department to conduct periodical review of the progress of the two projects.
The MLA also interacted with the BSF official and also the members of the KSU Huroi unit.
