A secondary school in East Jaiñtia Hills has been without a Science teacher for a year, the education cell of the Khasi Students Union (KSU) has claimed.
The school in question is the Rymbai Government Secondary School and the KSU has sought immediate appointment of a science teacher.
The KSU were informed about the situation by residents of Rymbai. The post of Science teacher remained vacant after the transfer of a teacher to another school and has affected students especially those preparing for the board examination.
Pointing out that the school classrooms need improvement the KSU said they are too small which is not conducive for study.
The KSU said the state government should also upgrade the school to a higher secondary level, a proposal that was made three years ago.
