The cabinet today approved a proposal by the MeECL to sanction an additional amount of Rs 30 crore to clear all pending dues of contractors engaged for completion of the Ganol Stage-I Small Hydro Project (22.5 MW) in Tura, West Garo Hills district.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said the project has been completed. With the proposal, the completion cost of the overall project has been finalized at Rs 590.88 crore, he said.
Meanwhile, the cabinet also approved the Meghalaya State Energy Conservation Fund Rules, 2025 to put in place measures for energy conservation and improve energy efficiency in public buildings, street lightings, energy efficient projects, energy efficient agricultural pumps, etc.
OTHER CABINET DECISIONS
- Establishment of the State Seed Certification Agency to make the State self-reliant in matters of Seed Certification in order to ensure production, sale and distribution of certified/quality seeds to farmers for achieving better and higher yields of agricultural produce.
- Integrated Eco-tourism and Sustainable Agri-based Livelihood Development Project in Meghalaya (IESALDPM) brought down to 80 million projects from 145 million to put a ceiling on different externally aided projects.
- Amendment to the Meghalaya Water Resources Engineering Service Rules, 2016.
- Adopted the Meghalaya Right to Information Rules, 2025.
- Amendment to the Meghalaya State Commission for Women (Salaries Allowances & Conditions of Service of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and Members) Rules 2005
