Chairman of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Pyniaid Sing Syiem, has informed that the Union Ministry of Finance, through the 15th Finance Commission, has allocated Rs 81 crore as ‘tied grant’ and Rs 54 crore as ‘untied grant’ for Meghalaya.
“This allocation of funds is for the year 2021-2022 and meant for rural local bodies (RLB), including the local government, like the three autonomous district councils of Meghalaya,” Syiem said.
The KHADC Chairman informed that in the coming week the Union Ministry of Finance will release the amount to the state government.
Syiem also informed that the Centre has also allocated funds for the local government in the health sector grant to strengthen the functioning of the councils.
Informing that the allocation of funds under the health sector grant is for 2021-2022 Syiem said that it has “eight components amounting to Rs 117.65 crore. The grant will be released to the three ADCs of Meghalaya.”
