Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita handed appointment letters to candidates selected for the central government jobs from Meghalaya at the Rozgar Mela held in Shillong today.
The Rozgar Mela was held across 47 locations nationwide. The event, addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via videoconferencing, saw the distribution of over 51,000 appointment letters to newly inducted youth in various Ministries and Departments, including the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Posts, Ministry of Labour and Employment, and others.
In his address, Margherita described the mela as a gateway to building a stronger India, “These are not just jobs; they are gateways to building the nation. In the last one and a half years, we have conducted recruitment drives with complete fairness, reflecting the motto of our government,” the Minister said.
“It is more than just a letter. Your journey ahead is not merely about building a career but contributing to India’s growth story. Every citizen you serve shapes India’s tomorrow. Let us move forward together towards an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, driven by the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”
Welcoming the new recruits into public service, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Shillong N. Longvah said, “The Rozgar Mela reflects the government’s strong commitment to employment generation under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.”
Highlighting the broader vision of the mela, she added, “Today’s appointments mark not just individual achievements but a collective step towards strengthening public service in the country.”
The Prime Minister said, when youth participates in nation building, the nation develops rapidly and also makes its mark in the world. He said, with their hard work and innovation today the youth of the country is showing the world how much potential the nation has.
“Today, India’s youth are demonstrating to the world the immense potential we possess, through dedication and innovation,” said the Prime Minister. Congratulating the new recruits, he further added, “Your appointment is the result of your hard work and determination. Take pride in the opportunity to serve the nation.”
