The Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has accused political party leaders of misleading the people into believing that the roster system will be implemented prospectively.
“It is surprising that the political leaders of high calibre like the Member of Parliament Wanweiroy Kharlukhi are fooling and misleading people by stating in the press that the implementation of roster system is prospective, when in fact it is retrospective,” KHNAM vice president Thomas Passah said at a press conference.
He said that if there is prospective implementation of the roster then entries made in and maintenance of the roster registers and roster accounts should start from zero as on May, 2022. No Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) result notifications, appointment orders and promotion orders prior to May, 2022 will be referred to or required at all in the preparation and maintenance of roster documents, he added.
According to Passah, the government had used or made entries with inputs and records from the MPSC result notifications as well as appointment and promotion orders from 1972 to April 2022. He said these are mere assumptions made while preparing the roster document. “Hence it is 100 per cent retrospective and the government has been able to mislead innocent people,” he said.
Yesterday during the all political party meeting on the roster system, KHNAM and Voice of the People Party leaders had walked out of the meeting. The two parties had said that discussing only the roster system without touching on the reservation policy would not lead to any solution to the problems arising out of the issue.
