Meghalaya recorded 467 new cases of Covid-19 today, 760 recoveries and 14 fatalities.
With more recoveries than new infections, the recovery rate went up to 80.04 percent. The rolling average of new infections (on a seven-day basis) also improved for the seventh day running; it now stands at 659.43, a fall of 70.00 compared to yesterday.
Twelve fatalities were added to East Khasi Hills’ figures today, with one each in South West Khasi Hills and East Jaintia Hills. Ten had Covid-19 pneumonia listed as a cause of death.
The deceased were identified as Play Phawa (74) of Khliehriat, Raj Kumar Purajay (78) of Laitumkhrah, Seniorita Nongkynrih (70) of Mawlai Iewrynghep, Kliancy Synrem (80) of Mawngap Mawkharshiing, Ratan Singh Rana (66) of Nongrah, April B Lyngdoh (69) of Raid Laban, Raphael Kshiar (59) of Mawlai Umshing, Esman Kharsyntiew (72) of Sadew, Leo Lyttan Wahlang (73) of Lower Mawprem, Magrita Wankhar (56) of Mawphlang, Elizabeth Marboh (68) of Mawlynrei, Martin Lyngdoh Ryntathiang (61) of Mawlai Nongpdeng, Bajiedlang Nongbri (42) of Upper Nongthymmai and Starlan Kharlyngdoh (45) of Nonglang.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 257 of today’s reported infections, including one police personnel, two armed forces/paramilitaries, 10 in Jaiaw, 12 in Laban, 20 in Laitumkhrah, 38 in Mawlai, 18 in Mawsynram, 13 in Nongmynsong, 16 in Nongrah and 13 in Thynroid.
Ri-Bhoi reported 67 new cases (including one armed forces/paramilitaries, four health workers, one police, 11 in Pyllun, 11 in St Claret cluster), West Garo Hills 36 (one health worker, eight in Danakgre), South West Khasi Hills 29 (five in Nonglang), West Jaintia Hills 22 (two health workers, one returnee), South West Garo Hills 19 (one health worker, one police), East Jaintia Hills 12 (two returnees), West Khasi Hills 10 (four in Mawlyntriang), North Garo Hills eight (one health worker), South Garo Hills four and East Garo Hills three (one health worker).
There were also 760 recoveries today – 431 in East Khasi Hills, 162 in Ri-Bhoi, 61 in West Garo Hills, 29 in West Jaintia Hills, 23 in South West Garo Hills, 19 in North Garo Hills, 14 in East Jaintia Hills, 10 in West Khasi Hills, eight in East Garo Hills and three in South West Khasi Hills.
There are now 6,606 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 2,998 active cases, Ri-Bhoi 915, West Garo Hills 614, West Jaintia Hills 551, South West Garo Hills 393, South West Khasi Hills 315, East Jaintia Hills 230, West Khasi Hills 171, North Garo Hills 157, East Garo Hills 135 and South Garo Hills 127.
In all, Meghalaya has had 36,065 Covid-19 cases, of which 6,606 are active, 28,867 have recovered and 592 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has increased to 80.04 percent. The fatality rate has increased to 1.64 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases now stands at 659.43.
