Shillong MP Ricky A J Syngkon today conducted an inspection of NEIGRIHMS at Mawdiangdiang in New Shillong to take stock of the functioning of the superspecialty hospital.
Although NEIGRIHMS Director Dr. Nalin Mehta was not in station, Syngkon held meetings with senior medical and administrative officials of the hospital and was briefed about the various shortcomings and deficiencies in the hospital.
This is the first visit by a sitting MP from the State to NEIGRIHMS ever since it started operations in 2007.
Recently, Syngkon had written to Union Health Minister J P Nadda requesting for upgradation of NEIGRIHMS to the ‘Institute of National Importance’ status.
