Hoping to uplift the livelihoods of local residents by boosting the tourism sector in Ri-Bhoi, the Ri-Bhoi Tourism and Environmental Development Forum has expressed its ambition to promote the Mawlypoh cave and bring it on to the tourist map of the state.
Mawlypoh cave, which is located in Raid Madan Kyrdem, is thought to be one of its kind, holding the inherited history of the ancestor king, Luh Shadap, and queen, Iong Saring.
The forum’s General Secretary, Marvelous Pde, said that the body’s main objectives are to serve the district by promoting tourism. It has been exploring different spots with tourism potential in the district. It was on one such visit that the forum’s members came across this beautiful cave.
As part of its effort to gather up all the information behind the cave, the forum will conduct a final survey of the inner parts of the cave, with the hope that the state government will take on board the information and use it to promote the site.
