A cow was electrocuted by an unprotected transformer recently in Warmawsaw village, Ri-Bhoi Sepngi region,
The cow, which was grazing nearby, wandered too close to the transformer and was killed instantly.
Meanwhile, the Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) Warmawsaw Circle has condemned the incident, blaming the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) for negligence.
Armour Mawblei, President of RBYF Warmawsaw Circle, expressed deep concern, stating that the transformer was installed without proper protective fencing, posing a significant risk to both animal and human lives.
The RBYF has given MeECL a five-day ultimatum to enclose the transformer with protective fencing to prevent any further tragic incidents.
The organization demands immediate action to ensure public safety and prevent such avoidable accidents in the future.
