The Ri Bhoi traffic police issued 63 e-challans for traffic violations and collected a fine of Rs 77,000 during an enforcement drive.
This comes a week after the traffic police held an awareness campaign to ensure compliance with helmet use and seatbelt regulations to enhance road safety. As part of the initiative, the traffic police also distributed helmets to children, men and women riding two-wheelers.
Intense checks were conducted especially on over speeding of bikes along the National Highway 6, which has become a major concern, especially during weekends and holidays.
District Superintendent of Police Vivekanand Singh Rathore reiterated that citizens should prioritise road safety by following traffic rules to prevent accidents and ensure safety for all.
