Ri-Bhoi and East Jaintia Hills have new Deputy Commissioners, with the appointments being made public today.
RM Kurbah, the incumbent DC of Ri-Bhoi has been replaced by Arpit Upadhyay, who was formerly the Additional District Magistrate of Pynursla civil sub-division. Kurbah has been transferred to the Health and Family Welfare Department in the post of Secretary.
Abhilash Barnawal, the former Additional District Magistrate of Amlarem civil sub-division is now the East Jaintia Hills DC. There were protests late last year after the state government transferred the last DC, Ethelbert Kharmalki, after just over a year in the job. The Additional DC, SS Syiemlieh, had been in charge of the district in a temporary role since then.
