The District Selection Committee of Ri-Bhoi today clarified on the reasons for the delay in announcing the results of the most recent DSC exam, which was conducted in 2021-22.
The Vice-Chairman of the committee, WS Ryntathiang, told reporters that the delay was down to unavoidable circumstances, including the Meghalaya High Court’s directive to implement the reservation roster.
In 2019 an advertisement was issued for 108 vacant positions across 24 government departments.
However, the Covid-19 pandemic upended the process the following year and it was only able to hold the exams in 2021-22. Then, just as the DSC was readying to announce the results, the High Court ordered the creation of a roster system to guide the working of the job reservation policy.
In compliance with the order, Ryntathiang said that the concerned departments were required to hold meetings and undergo training to formulate their departmental rosters. These rosters then had to be submitted to the DSC to ensure the results align with the reservation roster. Despite repeated reminders, these departments have yet to submit their rosters.
“The Ri-Bhoi District Selection Committee remains actively engaged and is eagerly awaiting the submission of rosters from the concerned departments,” Ryntathiang stated. “We hope that they will expedite the process so that we can publish the results of the 108 vacant positions across these 24 departments at the earliest.”
