The Meghalaya Retired College Teachers’ Association (MRCTA) has expressed its sadness at the demise of Sisir Bhattacharjee, the former Head of the Department of Mathematics at St Edmund’s College, Shillong, who passed away yesterday.
Bhattacharjee (87) had passed away in NEIGRIHMS after suffering from ailments related to his old age.
The MRCTA said that the departed was revered by his students and associates as a simple man with an amiable nature who maintained friendly relationships with everyone.
“Extremely helping and pleasing in nature, he was associated with a few other educational institutions and social organisations. He used to make complex topics of mathematics an easy one through his versatile knowledge-base and simple approach. A person of such simplicity, knowledge and wisdom was a treasure to the society. He maintained a very dignified post-retirement life and remained active through social activities,” the MRCTA said in a press release today.
