The South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has informed that movement of pigs, meat products and feed from other districts and infected zone is restricted.
The order was passed after the State government declared Umshorshor under Umsning block in Ri Bhoi as ‘epicentre’ of the African Swine Fever (ASF).
The DC has also advised pig owners to take preventive measures in order to prevent transmission of the disease from wild boars, scavengers and street pigs and to monitor their health and report to the concerned department for symptoms of the disease.
