Various residents living around the Bhaitbari region in West Garo Hills have written to the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) seeking a stay order on the transfer the Medical and Health Officer, Mukta Miah from the Bhaitbari PHC.
In the letter, the residents expressed shock over the fact that the doctor had been transferred from his current post by the DM&HO. Condemning the decision, the complainants sought that the order for transfer be stayed and the doctor be allowed to continue in his present place of posting.
“He is an excellent human being and has been awarded multiple times. He was first in the COVID vaccination drive, institutional delivery of pregnant women under MHIS, built the upcoming CHC in Bhaitbari according to specifications while adding a waiting shed, medical emergency board and vehicle parking space,” said the complainants.
Complimenting his contribution to local medical care, the petitioners for the doctor stated that Dr Miah’s contributions to the local society were immense.
The petitioners have sought a stay on the transfer of the doctor on the basis that work that the M&HO has done is still incomplete and to allow him a chance to do so.
