Shillong, Jul 4: Students from across the Amlarem sub-division took part in the Amlarem Golden Jubilee quiz competition held at the training hall of the office of the Block Development Officer.
The competition aimed to celebrate educational achievement and foster community engagement among the youth.
The event, organised jointly by the office of the Sub-Divisional School Education Officer and the office of the Sub-Registrar of Cooperative Societies brought four higher secondary schools onto one platform to test knowledge and teamwork.
Sohkha Government Higher Secondary School emerged champion with 25 points. Nongtalang Government Higher Secondary School finished second with 20 points, and Ka Syiem Jingsuk Higher Secondary School took third with 10 points. Padu Higher Secondary School also received a special prize for active participation.
District School Education Officer W. Sumer, who attended the event as chief guest, lauded the schools for their enthusiasm and competitive spirit. She stressed that quality education shapes responsible citizens and encouraged students to remain curious and disciplined.
SDSEO Wailad Nanghuloo said the celebration marks five decades of progress for the sub-division. She credited educators, village authorities and residents for the region’s growth and called for continued unity to ensure inclusive development for the next generation.
Sub-Registrar of Cooperative Societies W. B. Pariat linked the celebrations to the Ministry of Cooperation’s theme “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” or Prosperity through Cooperation. He told students that education and cooperation are key to a progressive society and urged them to pursue learning with dedication and integrity.
