Shillong, Jun 22: The Block Development Officer of Pynursla has prohibited public entry near landslide-affected sites, warning that affected areas remain unstable and prone to further collapse during the ongoing monsoon.
In an advisory issued today, the BDO asked villagers under Pynursla block to comply with safety instructions and to respect barricades, warning signs and restricted zones set up around affected areas. Residents were specifically urged to keep children, elderly persons and livestock away from danger zones.
The advisory called for immediate reporting of any fresh ground movement, cracks, or related hazards to local authorities for preventive action.
For commuters, the BDO advised avoiding the Laitlyngkot-Lyngkyrdem route until the situation stabilises. Safer alternatives have been suggested via Pynursla-Dawki-Amlarem or Pynursla-Nongjri-Sohra roads.
