A campus training programme on pulse production technology for farmers concluded at the ICAR-KVK in Ri-Bhoi today.
Altogether 100 farmers from four villages within the district took part in the two-day training organised in collaboration with IIPR, Kanpur.
Scientists from ICAR, Umiam, KVK and NBPGR took different sessions like prospects and potential of pulses, management of important diseases, INM practices, organic cultivation, value addition for entrepreneurship development etc, were covered by resource persons.
A video film on pulse production technology was screened for enhancing the knowledge of farmers on different aspects of Pulse crop. Farmers’ queries on various agricultural problems were clarified by the scientists during the programme.
Meanwhile, a training programme on “Techniques of Poultry Farming” was also held for 15 poultry entrepreneurs.
This was in continuation to the development of poultry entrepreneurship under the On Farm Testing (OFT) programme of the ICAR-KVK Ri-Bhoi, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam.
Three hundred Indian Runner ducks and 750 Rainbow Rooster poultry chicks were distributed to the farmers by Dr. M. Islam, Principal Scientist and Head, KVK Ri-Bhoi.
