The Martin Luther Christian University is hosting a programme focusing on sharing of the ASER Survey Report 2023 along with a workshop on creating teaching and learning materials to address reading and numeracy deficiencies in children aged 5-16.
During the morning session, a representative from ASER (Annual Status of Education Report) shared insights from the 2023 report, crucial for identifying areas of deficiencies that need improvement and guiding educational strategies, a press release said today.
Following this, the Dean of the School of Social Work and the Head of the Sociology Department shared their views and ideas on the importance of collaborating with ASER. Student perspectives from those involved in the survey offered valuable insights into the importance of collaboration which enabled them to gain more knowledge about the research work.
Vice-Chancellor Prof TK Kharbamon also commended ASER and the students for their comprehensive survey highlighting student challenges in East Khasi Hills.
Certificates were also awarded to students who participated in the survey, with ASER representatives facilitating the distribution ceremony.
The afternoon session featured a workshop on creating low-cost teaching materials for addressing reading and numeracy deficiencies. Facilitated by Priyanka Das and Esther Marak from the Pratham organisation, the workshop provided hands-on experience for second and fourth semester students of the Department of Education.
