Editor,
The pro-active action of checking and penalizing offenders along the national highway towards Guwahati by District police of Ribhoi under the leadership of the SP Mr. V.S.Rathore along with his officers and the district administration is commendable. The recurring number of fatalities caused along the Shillong-Guwahati highway has been a serious matter and required complete ground action against two-wheelers and four wheelers driving recklessly putting others in danger is a stark reminder that we have yet to inculcate road discipline and road safety. The high number of cars with aftermarket LED fittings and modifications brings into focus the travesty of such people to put commuters and pedestrians in danger the state authorities should clamp down to ensure safe and secure pathways for both pedestrians and vehicles alike.
