Shillong, Nov 5: In response to recent reports circulating on social media and in sections of the print and electronic media, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong strongly denied suggestions of a rift between him and other National People’s Party (NPP) members.
Addressing reporters today, Tynsong expressed shock terming as “false and baseless” reports, describing them as fake news allegedly spread by vested political interests.
“I was shocked to see some sections of the media reporting about a rift between me and my party colleagues. Let me make it clear — this is not true at all. These are fake reports, and perhaps those who wrote them were misled or used by vested individuals or political parties,” he said.
The Deputy CM urged journalists and media houses to verify information before publishing or broadcasting, cautioning that such unverified reports create unnecessary confusion among the public.
“There must be a boundary for everyone — whether in the media, political parties, NGOs, or other groups. We should not engage in dirty politics or spread news that creates division and misunderstanding among the people,” he added.
Reflecting on his political journey, the minister highlighted his long association with the NPP, noting that the party functions like a family from the national to the grassroots level.
“I have been with the NPP for a long time. Earlier, I was with the Congress. The difference I’ve seen is that the NPP treats every member as a family member. Whenever there is any misunderstanding or rumor, we sit together and resolve it. That is the beauty of the NPP,” he said.
