South West Garo Hills police recovered Yaba tablets weighing 150 grams from Julgaon area under Ampati police station today.
Two suspected drug peddlers who were transporting the drug managed to escape.
Police said based on a tip off on the movement of drug peddlers from Mankachar towards Ampati, a naka was laid at Julgaon area and intercepted two motorcycle borne persons.
On seeing the police the two unknown persons fled away towards a nearby jungle. While a chase was conducted by the police personnel on duty the persons left their bike about 300 meters from the naka and managed to escape.
During a checking of the bike bearing registration number ML-08D/1703 police recovered eight pouches containing 90 pieces of red and blue coloured tablets suspected to be Yaba weighing 150 grams, police said.
