Shillong, Sep 5: A complaint has been lodged at Madanriting Police Station alleging assault by members of the Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) on September 3 at Mawblei.
According to the complaint filed by Riangdo Veneers Pvt. Ltd., three officials — Pralay Kumar Jana, Factory In-charge; Gautam Bora, Director; and Casper Tariang, Area Sales Manager — had gone to Mawblei for a meeting fixed over telephone near Rani Motors, opposite Abigail Petrol Pump.
The complainants said they reached the spot at around 3:30 pm and were called into a nearby shop at about 4:30 pm. Only Jana and Bora were allowed inside the meeting room while Tariang was asked to wait outside with two persons and one Lambert Mawlong. They were asked to hand over their mobile phones.
Inside the room, they were shown a list of requirements and asked to take an immediate decision. When they said they would need to consult the company management, they were allegedly physically assaulted.
The complaint further alleged that after coming out, Tariang was also assaulted and kicked on his back.
The accused named in the complaint are Lambert Mawlong, an unidentified male member of HITO present during the meeting, and other persons associated with HITO.
The company representatives have urged police to register an FIR, identify the unidentified persons, record statements of complainants and witnesses, investigate the incident and ensure safety of the complainants.
