Meghalaya police today joined the rest of their colleagues in the country to pay respects to police personnel who died in the line of duty on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day.
The Police Commemoration Day is observed on October 21 every year as Martyr’s Day in all police forces of India. The day commemorates the sacrifices of ten policemen who sacrificed their lives while defending our borders with China, at Hot Springs, Ladakh in 1959.
The officers of different ranks in various district headquarters paid their respects to the martyrs.
“We remembered all the martyrs who laid down their lives at the alter of duty. Their sacrifices light our path to safety & their valor echoes through the hills & valleys of Meghalaya,” Director General of Police Lajja Ram Bishnoi posted on X.
