The Meghalaya High Court today disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in connection with the affairs in the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU).
The division bench of Chief Justice Indra Prasanna Mukerji and Justice Biswadeep Bhattacharjee said the situation at the university was improving, with classes having resumed, exams postponed and the committee constituted by the Ministry of Education is enquiring into the issues.
The court said that the purpose of the PIL has been served and therefore disposed of, with liberty to apply afresh, if the occasion so arises in the future.
The High Court had taken cognizance of the state of affairs in NEHU in a PIL filed by High Court lawyer Phuyosa Yobin.
