Two alert off-duty guardsmen of the Meghalaya Secretariat Home Guards today caught a person red-handed while trying to steal a power generator from the premises behind the third Secretariat.
The person, who is suspected to be a minor, was spotted by guardsmen Lingbirth Arengh and Darmiki Langstang near the office and found his action to be suspicious.
The accused was was later handed over to the police at Sadar Police Station.
